LOL! your dog has no idea what you are saying, it probably sounds similar to a word that is used commonly that makes her happy, or the tone of your voice excites her. One night my boyfriend and his friends were joking about my dog speaking spanish, and how funny it would be if he did, and my boyfriend turned around and my dog was chewing on his shoe and my boyfriend went "SENOR!" or however you spell that in spanish (the word for like a male) and my dog stopped chewing and stared at him. He had no idea what was said, but it was the tone of voice, and he got the message

Mainly because of the meaning associated with "ghost". Many people immediately think of hauntings, someone who died and has remained trapped due to "unfinished business", evil things happening and so on.

When people speak of spirit, it is usually associated with good, light and so on.

Thus, because the Holy Spirit did not die, is not haunting the Church and isn't trapped here due to unfinished busniess in His previous life…He is usually referred to as the Holy Spirit instead of the Holy Ghost.
